Thoughts, about stuff

Skydrive is out of beta. But….

…given that Skydrive appears as part of Live Spaces
why does my Skydrive URL not follow the URL of my Live Space?
You would have thought that https://jamiethomson.skydrive.live.com/ would take me to my Skydrive wouldn’t you? Sadly not!
Mind you, I shouldn’t grumble too much. Skydrive is out of beta and now gives us a whopping 5Gb to mess about with. Nice one.

  1. I think the reason why SkyDrive doesn’t tie in with the name of your Space is to keep privacy. Some folks are using SkyDrive to host private files and want to keep their URL hidden. However a setting to allow to tie with your Spaces URL would be nice.

  2. I talked about this problem almost 6 months ago on my blog. The problem isn’t limited to just SkyDrive either but also extends to Windows Live Events. It’s a problem that really has no valid reasons for existing, even with privacy concerns. If you’re hosting private files they would be in one of the private or protected folders on SkyDrive.
