Web activities in Windows Live

with 4 comments

One of the brand new features in the upcoming release of Windows Live is the ability to aggregate data from other non-Microsoft websites into your “What’s New” feed – this feature is called “web activities”. Do you want people in your Windows Live network to know what you’re writing on Twitter, what you’ve said you like on iLike or what you’ve written on your (none Windows Spaces) blog? If so then web activities are for you.

Web activities control which of your online activity gets displayed on your profile (and therefore on your friends’ “What’s New” feed). In essence web activities put you more in control of your Windows Live experience than ever before – you can now customise your profile to be however you want it.

The current list of possible web activities is as follows:

I believe there may be more (hint: Flickr) when this all gets released near the end of November and I’ve overheard on the grapevine that many more web activities are planned for the future. What other web activities would you like to see introduced to Windows Live? Zune Social badges and XBox Live achievements would be top of my list!

  1. Hmm, I don’t see Facebook there which is strange considering its incorporated into the new Messenger. Its all very exciting though and I can’t wait!

  2. When this rolled out, it’s a shame that the Custom Blog activity can only be added once. Many sites have RSS feeds for activity, and until Windows Live open a partnership, the custom blog module could be generic activity to support them.Or maybe it’s just me who hasn’t realized there’s a way to add more than one.

  3. Yeah, why won’t they let you add more than one custom blog? Not everyone uses the supposed "most popular" sites.
