What can you do with your Windows Live ID? : #5 Video voicemail

with one comment

[In this series of blog entries I’ll be exploring what else you can do with your Windows Live ID other than access Windows Live products and services. See the complete list here.]

Windows Live Messenger enables you to make video calls to your friends if they’re online but if they’re not then, well, sorry but its not going to be possible. There is another option though – Windows Live Video Messages at http://videomessages.live.com

You log into the site using your Windows Live ID and then are able to record a video message using your webcam that you can then send to one of your friends. Nice and simple! Windows Live Video Messages is still very much in beta but its a useful little tool if you want to leave messages for someone and you enjoy speaking face-to-face. This service isn’t yet getting much traction but I think that might change as and when webcams become ubiquitous throughout the home.

P.S. Thanks to Ian for the tip.
