Messenger now available for any Windows Phone

In the past the standard installation of Windows Live for Windows Mobile did not include Live Messenger, installation of which was at the discretion of the carrier. Microsoft have finally done the decent thing by sticking two fingers up at bigcorp and providing Messenger out-of-the-box with every single installation. Here are some screenshots of it running on my HTC Kaiser (aka AT&T Tilt aka Vodafone v1615).

  1. This is really great news about Messenger finally being made available for download Jamie. Now if they can only get Live Calendar on our Smartphones they will finally offer what we all need! Closing the Messenger gap and pushing back on the cellular bullies deserves three cheers!

  2. It’s strange to me that it’s so difficult to find this link on any formal US Windows Live site… the sites all talk about the web Messenger client, the web Windows Live mail client… even while sometimes showing screenshots of the the install you’re talking about here, which on Windows phones is generally a much better experience. They do mention the US carriers provide it, although again never explicitly providing this URL. Was there an announce of this somewhere?
