A thought about Google Chrome OS

with 5 comments

The EU are caning Microsoft for bundling Internet Explorer inside Windows and they don’t accept Microsoft’s argument that the browser is now a fundamental constituent of the operating system. Doesn’t Google Chrome OS kinda negate the EU’s stance?

Like I said, just a thought.

  1. Wow. That’s pretty much exactly what I was telling a friend when we heard about this. Really, Google Chrome will be just another linux distro.

  2. Who the h*** do these people think they are? Microsoft’s software with everything else they made anyway. We should boycott the EU! If only we could…

  3. Well, they could point some difference (if the Chrome is modified to have more specific functionality for this) and said it’s different from their browser solution; or, is made only for a small base of OS. Or maybe they would said it’s like Windows display manager and not a browser at all, bearing only similar name ? So the Chrome is used as part of the system at whole :DAlthough IE is also part of the system… maybe it’ll be that market share size argument again.

  4. I agree Jamie! If they are coming down on Microsoft, then it should apply to ALL OS’s from everyone! Apple, Linux, they all ship with a browser attached. The EU are a bunch of idiots! They always seem to me to have nothing better to do but come out with these stupid laws all the time.
